The Red Devils are working on completing another transfer deal after their capture of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount on Wednesday.
Manchester United have made a £39 million (€46m/$50m) verbal proposal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Premier League club will make the bid official soon. The proposal includes add-ons. It might not be enough to sway Inter though. The Italian side seeks around £60 million (€70m/$76m) for Onana in total.
Onana is in high demand after an impressive first season at San Siro. The Cameroonian joined Inter from Ajax last summer on a free transfer. He kept 19 clean sheets in 41 games, helping the Black and Blues clinch a domestic cup double.
More impressively, Onana managed eight clean sheets in 13 Champions League games to help Inter reach the final, which they lost 1-0 to Manchester City.
The 27-year-old is open to reuniting with Erik ten Hag this summer. He worked under the Manchester United coach at Ajax between 2017 and 2022.
If a deal can’t go through, Manchester United will look for alternatives within their budget. Sky Sports claims the club has already checked out Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow. Talks with David De Gea about a new contract will resume when he returns from his holiday. The Spaniard’s contract expired last Friday.
The Red Devils do have other goalkeeping options for next season. This includes Dean Henderson, who will return from his loan at Nottingham Forest. Tom Heaton also signed a new contract at Old Trafford recently.
