Jesse Lingard has carried over his impressive form at West Ham last season back to Manchester United as he bids to revive his career at Old Trafford.

Andy Cole has hailed Jesse Lingard’s impressive return to Manchester United and his ‘infectious’ work rate.

After falling out of favor at Old Trafford last season, Lingard joined West Ham on loan. The move was exactly what he needed. The midfielder rediscovered his best form and even won a brief recall into the England squad.

Lingard has since carried over his improved form back to United, having scored in the club’s 4-2 friendly loss to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday to leave Cole suitably impressed.

“Jesse has impressed me,” the former Red Devils striker told MUTV.

“I think Jesse has come back with that bit between his teeth. He has got the goal, but it is not just about the goal – it is his work rate as well.

“I think his work rate can become infectious. He is putting himself about, getting in the right areas – and getting himself a goal as well.”

Despite his contract expiring in 2022, United could still hold on to Lingard. West Ham may be keen to re-sign the 28-year-old, but Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested he will stay for next season.
