The Red Devils have to play without a crucial midfielder this weekend.
Casemiro will reportedly stay out of action when Manchester United take on Sheffield United on Saturday.
The experienced midfielder picked up a knock in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Venezuela last week. Casemiro was advised by the club to stay in Brazil and start his rehab process there.
Having picked up an ankle injury, the 31-year-old is expected to miss United’s upcoming match against Sheffield. The club confirmed Casemiro’s injury in a statement on Thursday.
“Casemiro will be unavailable for Saturday’s game with the Blades but is expected back at Carrington early next week to resume training, although he is suspended for the UEFA Champions League encounter with FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford, after being sent off in the defeat to Galatasaray,” the statement read.
Erik ten Hag’s side went into the international break with a major injury crisis. However, Sergio Reguilon, Sofyan Amrabat, Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are all back in training as United prepare for EPL’s restart. Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Amad Diallo are still far from making their returns to the pitch.
After a dramatic comeback against Brentford, United look to claim their fifth victory of the season against Sheffield. The Red Devils will then face Copenhagen in a crucial Champions League game on Tuesday.
