The Red Devils are eager to add a new forward to their ranks this January.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Bayern Munich’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Inconsistent attacking performances have played a major role in United’s struggles this season. Having scored 22 goals in 20 league matches, the Red Devils’ goalscoring record is worse than any team ranked above the 14th spot on the Premier League table.

It seems that United are now monitoring the market to find a budget striker for the second half of the campaign.

According to the Athletic, United believe they can sign Choupo-Moting for a single-digit million fee as they look to add more depth to their attacking line.

Choupo-Moting has scored a total of 38 goals in 107 appearances since joining Bayern Munich from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020. The arrival of Harry Kane has limited the Cameroonian striker’s playing chances this season as he has slipped behind both Kane and Mathys Tel in Bayern’s pecking order.

A possible move for Choupo-Moting is reminiscent of United’s moves for Odin Ighalo and Edinson Cavani in the past few seasons. Both transfers led to underwhelming results, as the pair scored a total of 24 goals in their 82 appearances for the Red Devils.
