Manchester United could hand Ole Solskjaer his marching orders if the Norwegian fails to do one certain thing, claims Danny Murphy.
Ole Solskjaer could be facing the sack at Manchester United if he fails to deliver silverware this term, as per Danny Murphy.
The Red Devils have produced a number of impressive results this season. However, it’s been a campaign where consistency has been far from them.
A 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace and a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Tottenham has come in the same span where they beat PSG in Paris and handed Leipzig a 5-0 drubbing in the Champions League.
Solskjaer has seen his side’s fortunes overturned on the domestic front with the Manchester outfit just five points from top spot with an outstanding fixture.
They face a tricky final Champions League group game but they have a strong chance to make it to the round of 16.
Talks of a potential sacking has died down of late regarding Solskjaer but Danny Murphy says the club could part ways with their former player if he finishes another campaign without a title.
“It’s a bit like Liverpool” Murphy said on Monday’s White and Jordan.
“Klopp was getting to finals and people were enjoying it, but it gets to a point when people think, ‘Come on, enough now.”
“Then bang, they won the Champions League and the Premier League title. He’s produced.”
“It’s very simple. If Solskjaer doesn’t win anything this season, he will be gone.”
Up next for United and Solskjaer is a crunch Champions League match against RB Leipzig on Wednesday before they welcome rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford for a derby game at the weekend.
