The Red Devils have named their 22-man squad for their Champions League opener at BSC Young Boys on Tuesday night, with Cristiano Ronaldo included.

Cristiano Ronaldo is part of the Manchester United squad that will travel to Switzerland on Monday, but Edinson Cavani is out.

Cavani, who missed the 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday, is still recovering from a knock in training. It’s understood to be nothing too serious, and the Uruguayan could return this weekend.

“Edinson got a knock in training,” said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend. “Maybe he’ll be [out for] a week or so, he’s still working his way up to full fitness from that one.”

Marcus Rashford, Alex Telles, Phil Jones and Scott McTominay are also unavailable.

The Red Devils boss, meanwhile, has selected Matej Kovar as his third-choice keeper. The 21-year-old replaces an absent Lee Grant and Dean Henderson, who played against the Arsenal Under-23s on Sunday.

Manchester United squad

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Heaton, Kovar.

Defenders: Bailly, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Varane, Wan-Bissaka.

Midfielders: Fernandes, Fred, Lingard, Mata, Matic, Pogba, Sancho, Van de Beek.

Forwards: Elanga, Greenwood, Martial, Ronaldo.

When will the Young Boys game begin?

Solskjaer’s men visit Swiss champions BSC Young Boys for their Group F opener in the Champions League on Tuesday night in Bern.

Atalanta and last season’s Europa League winners Villarreal will lock horns in their other Group F fixture in Spain.
