The Brazil international has a tendency to complete spectacular dribbles during his performances for the Red Devils.

Former Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov believes Antony could lose Erik ten Hag’s trust due to his obsession with skill moves.

Antony has struggled to live up to expectations since arriving at Old Trafford on a £86m move last summer. The Brazil international has made a total of 55 appearances for the Red Devils despite his underwhelming form. But Berbatov believes Ten Hag’s stance on keeping Antony as a regular starter could change.

“Erik ten Hag likes Antony; everybody knows that because they worked together at Ajax,” Berbatov told Betfair“It’s clear he has a soft spot for him because every coach is like this with certain players. Ten Hag is giving Antony his trust.”

He added: “However, right now, it’s not working well for Antony, so my piece of advice would be to keep it simple, don’t overcomplicate stuff.

“The moment you start thinking you’re Ronaldinho or Zidane while you’re struggling in games, you’re going to suffer even more. Don’t try to do stupid things like tricks that are not beneficial for the team.

“You’re so quick, use your pace to get in-behind the defence, get on the ball and start to record assists or shoot to score.”

Following their Champions League game against Copenhagen, United will return to the Premier League, where they take on Luton Town on Saturday.
