Watford held United to a goalless draw at Old Trafford as the Red Devils displayed another underwhelming performance.
Manchester United and Watford drew 0-0 in their Premier League clash on Saturday. The Red Devils continued their goalscoring struggles while Watford clinched a vital point.
United booed at Old Trafford!
United came into the game on the back of their 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Rangnick’s side pushed to get a quick opener in the first half, but Watford resisted their ill-organized attacks.
United’s rhythm improved in the second half while Watford also reinforced their counter-attacking plans. Cristiano Ronaldo missed an outrageous chance to score in the 62nd minute to complete his poor display.
Following a run from the left flank, Bruno Fernandes sent a precise cut back to Ronaldo, who could not get enough power on the ball to score. Watford then came close to snatching a late-winner, with David de Gea making a few crucial saves. His efforts, however, did not stop United fans from booing Rangnick’s side after the game.
What’s next for United and Watford?
United maintain their fourth spot on the table for now but see Arsenal only two points behind them with three games at hand. Watford, on the other hand, remain 19th on the table as they stay four points away from escaping the relegation zone.
The Hornets will face Arsenal on March 6 while United prepare to face Manchester City on the same day.
