The multi-talented winger from Manchester City is happy to help Pep Guardiola by taking on a bigger role in the squad.
Manchester City’s Ferran Torres admitted that he is ready to take on a greater role under Pep Guardiola. During recent interviews, the Spanish boss stipulated that the club won’t be investing for the upcoming transfer window. And this decision has been undertaken despite the lack of goals during the course of this season.
Torres transferred to City from Valencia in the summer transfer window. And as we can see, the 20-year-old versatile winger has been playing a central role for Guardiola. In fact, Ferran believes that he can help the team by adopting the number 9 role. This will, in turn, take some burden off Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
The future No. 9.
“I’m comfortable [playing at striker] and happy with the goal today,” he told the club’s official website after striking against Newcastle in a 2-0 win on Saturday. “I just have to keep on working to keep scoring more goals! The manager at half-time just wanted us to keep doing our jobs. Find the spaces, and make the most of them.”
“It’s important for us to score goals, and to play well up front. But it’s just as important to not concede and to have good performances offensively and that’s what we’re doing.” Torres was delighted to mention City’s efforts to grab the third victory in succession. “They were very well set up and they tried to defend deep. And we just needed to do the job and we did it,” he commented.”
“City are a big team. So we always have to win and that is something that is happening now. And we just need to keep the momentum now.”
