The Aston Villa captain was linked to Manchester United over the summer but decided to renew his contract with the Villans. However, his latest performances have sparked transfer rumors for the January market window.
According to The Telegraph, the price-tag is set at €110 million, which isn’t enough to scare Manchester City away. Last summer, they spent around €190 million to improve their squad.
It was reported last week that Jack Grealish is Pep Guardiola’s main target. This generated some confusion given that Lionel Messi is one month away from becoming a free agent. While commentating on beIN Sports, Andy Gray defended the manager’s rumored choice.
“He’s got more of a future (than Messi), and if you gave me, and I mean this, and people are going to say ‘you’re an idiot’, I’m not. Right now, if you give me Jack Grealish or Messi, I’m taking Grealish.”
