The Citizens have announced a new deal for Joao Cancelo after starting talks back in December.

Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo has signed a two-year contract extension at the club.

The new deal commits the 27-year-old Portuguese to the Etihad Stadium until June 2027.

Given his impressive performances since joining the club from Juventus for €65 million in 2019, City were keen to secure his future. Talks over a new deal began in December. Little more than a month later, the player and club have already signed an agreement.

“Manchester City is a fantastic club, so I am incredibly happy to have signed this new agreement,” Cancelo told the club’s website.

“City players have everything they need to reach their full potential, with amazing facilities, world-class teammates, and an incredible manager who pushes us every single day. There is nowhere better to play football, and it’s a pleasure to work here.

“I have so much I want to achieve before my career ends, and Manchester City offers me the best chance of fulfilling my ambitions.

“This new contract means I now have complete focus on improving my game and winning more trophies with this team.”

Cancelo has made 106 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in all competitions, supplying seven goals and 14 assists.

The former Valencia and Inter Milan star has won the Premier League and two EFL Cups in his time in Manchester so far.
