The City midfielder missed his side’s victory over Norwich due to injury.
Manchester City defeated Norwich City 4-0 in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Citizens displayed yet another brilliant attacking performance as they went 12 points clear on top of the league table.
Jack Grealish was City’s most notable absentee against the Canaries. The England international picked up an injury in City’s midweek win over Brentford and could not participate in his side’s preparations for the Norwich game.
In a post-match interview, Guardiola gave an update on Grealish’s situation ahead of City’s upcoming Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon.
When asked whether the 26-year-old’s injury was serious, the Spaniard replied (via City’s official website): “I hope not. We will see.”
He added: “I don’t know if he will be ready for Tuesday. After Brentford, we trained, and he was uncomfortable.
“He was not able to play today, but hopefully in the next days [he can].”
The City boss went on to praise Raheem Sterling, who scored a hattrick against the Canaries.
“He made a fantastic game,” he said.
“Especially after the goal – he was so aggressive and direct. He made a fantastic goal [and] the second one he was there.
“He has been an incredibly important player in all these seasons, with the amount of goals and assists, he always creates something.
“When he has confidence, he is a really important player.”
Guardiola’s side will face Sporting Lisbon in their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday. The Citizens will then return to Premier League to host Tottenham four days later.
