Pep Guardiola’s side have now lost more players to COVID-19 ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United.

Manchester City have announced three more positive COVID-19 cases after the latest round of tests. Two of them are players and the other one is a staff member.

The footballers in question are goalkeeper Scott Carson and midfielder Cole Palmer. The staff member who tested positive hasn’t been named by the club. The trio will now enter quarantine as per UK Government guidelines.

“Manchester City FC can confirm that Scott Carson, Cole Palmer, and one member of staff have tested positive for COVID-19,” read a club statement.

“Both personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.

“Everyone at the Club wishes Scott, Cole and all of our other colleagues a speedy recovery ahead of their return to work, training and competition.”

Carson and Palmer’s results mean City have now had six players test positive for COVID-19. Eric Garcia, Gabriel Jesus, and Kyle Walker are among the stars to have contracted the disease.

Three members of backroom staff and a player from the Elite Development Squad have also tested positive for coronavirus.

The club’s Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United, however, is still on.
