The Citizens continued their winning run with an easy victory at Etihad.

Manchester City defeated Sheffield United 2-0 in their Premier League match on Saturday. City’s dominating display kept them within touching distance of Liverpool at the top of the table.

What happened?

Sheffield’s poor start to the game allowed City to establish their control over the game early on. A brilliant low shot from Rodri put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute before they made several more attempts to extend their lead. However, Sheffield stayed in the game thanks to two excellent saves from Wes Foderingham.

After the break, Sheffield renewed their efforts to claim an equalizer, but it was City who doubled their lead just after the hour-mark. Another assist from Phil Foden found Julian Alvarez, who tapped in from close range to make it 2-0 for the hosts. City created several more chances to score their third goal of the night but surprisingly failed to convert them.
