The United newboy suffered an injury in his second Premier League match for the club.

Manchester United have confirmed Mason Mount suffered an injury in their Premier League match against Tottenham.

Mount started Man Utd’s first two games of the new season against Wolves and Tottenham. The former Chelsea star’s underwhelming performance against the Spurs made Erik ten Hag’s decision to substitute him as a tactical decision.

But United have now confirmed that Mount will stay out of action until after the upcoming international break.

“Mason Mount is set to miss Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest due to an injury picked up in last weekend’s encounter with Tottenham Hotspur,” United’s official statement reads.

“The small complaint is expected to keep Mount out until the international break next month.”

Mount will also miss United’s match against Arsenal on September 3. He will then stay in Manchester to complete his rehab as England take on Ukraine and Scotland.

Mount’s injury is a massive blow to Erik ten Hag’s plans of quickly integrating him into his side’s lineup. Man Utd’s new No.7 struggled to link up with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in midfield during his first two appearances for the club. The 24-year-old’s absence will most likely convince Ten Hag to start Christian Eriksen against Forest and Arsenal.
