The Red Devils claimed their second victory of the season at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Erik ten Hag has praised Manchester United for their performance against Southampton.

Following an impressive win over Liverpool at Old Trafford, the Red Devils defeated Southampton 1-0 on Saturday.

Ten Hag’s side were not able to convert their chances in the first half. However, their much-improved performance in the second period was enough to earn them victory.

A brilliant build-up led to Bruno Fernandes‘ superb volley in the 55th minute. Man Utd had several more chances to extend their lead but eventually settled for the narrow win.

“Not only from Bruno, don’t get me wrong it was a fantastic finish,” Ten Hag said post-match. “But I think it was the best part of us. That is how I want us to play.”

He added: “At the start of the game, we could have created more.

“It is the start of the season, it is tough. You have to battle and we did that today so we were rewarded.

“We kept control straight after half time, moved it around and we created three really good chances straight after half time.

“I still feel there’s room for improvement, to control more, but we are not that long in our way. We can improve that’s clear.”

Man Utd will face Leicester City in their next league game at King Power Stadium.
