The Red Devils signed Weghorst after their decision to part ways with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Erik ten Hag believes Wout Weghorst has made a fine first impression at Manchester United despite his struggle for goals.

Weghorst arrived at Man Utd in January, hoping to fill the gap that was created by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.

Since then, the Dutchman has started all six of his side’s games. But he’s yet to score his maiden Premier League goal for the Red Devils.

His form, however, hasn’t had a negative effect on Man Utd’s offensive output. In their last six matches, Ten Hag’s men have registered 13 goals, continuing their consistent attacking displays.

Speaking about Weghorst’s integration into United’s squad, Ten Hag said on Wednesday: “He is the one who makes players around him play better.

“As a team we have to work better to anticipate his movements because his movements are good, and quite a lot of times he was close [to scoring].

“He had many good actions and already a lot of good contributions to our results. He will score, but in the meantime he will do the other stuff, and do it good.”

He added: “It is not just about scoring as an individual but scoring from the team.

“The team has to win. He is doing a very good job at this moment in several aspects.”
