James Maddison has signed a contract extension with Leicester City which will keep him tied to the club until 2024.

Manchester United have been linked with the signing of James Maddison, who was one of the standout performers for Leicester City in 2019/20.

Leicester looked like a strong contender for securing Champions League qualification for most parts in the season with Maddison in the team, who scored six goals and set up three more.

However, a hip injury forced him to be sidelined in the final weeks of the season and his side ended up missing out on a top-four spot.

His future has been a subject of speculation for quite a while, but he has now removed all question marks after signing a contract extension.

The 23-year old midfielder recently put pen on paper for a four-year deal reportedly worth €1,10,000-a-week (£100k).

“I’m so happy to sign a new contract for this football club,” he told the official club website.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a Leicester City player with so many positive things happening on and off the pitch and I’m delighted to be part of that.

“What we’ve achieved as a club this season is a huge step forward for us and I know there’s so much more to come from this team.”

Maddison signed a five-year contract just in 2018, after joining the club from Norwich City. But his development over the past two seasons was enough for the club to hand him an extension with improved terms.

He has played 76 times in total for Leicester in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and registering 10 assists.
