The Red Devils are keen to add a backup goalkeeper to their ranks for the new season.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Dean Henderson’s loan move to Nottingham Forest has left Tom Heaton as Man Utd’s only backup for David De Gea. Following the Spaniard’s poor start to the new season, it seems United are keen to provide him with more competition.

According to 90min, both Sommer and Asmir Begovic have emerged as possible targets for Man Utd.

Sommer is among Bundesliga’s best keepers, playing as Gladbach’s captain. The experienced keeper has also represented Switzerland in two World Cups and two European Championships.

Begovic, on the other hand, is more familiar with Premier League football. The 35-year-old left Bournemouth to join Everton in July 2021, becoming Jordan Pickford’s backup in the Toffees’ squad.

According to English sources, signing a new keeper is one of Man Utd’s six objectives until the transfer window’s deadline.

The Red Devils hope to add five more outfield players to cover for their several departures this summer.

The likes of Casemiro, Frenkie de Jong, Christian Pulisic, and Antony are among Man Utd’s top targets. The club are up for a difficult task if they want to bring all of them to Old Trafford in the remaining two weeks of the current transfer window.
