The young Uruguayan was promising with the Red Devil’s U23 side and will now continue his development at a higher level elsewhere.
Facundo Pellistri has completed a loan move from Manchester United to Deportivo Alaves, both clubs confirmed on Sunday.
Pellistri was one of the three signings Manchester United made on the deadline day of the summer transfer window alongside frontman Edinson Cavani and left-back Alex Telles.
The 19-year-old forward had caught the eyes of the Red Devils after impressing in the South American league with CA Penarol.
He was able to keep up his form in England, making four goal contributions in his first eight appearances for United’s U-23s, but did not make a single first-team appearance for the club.
Pellistri will now hope to gain experience at a higher level and some first-team minutes under his belt in the second half of the season with a team facing a relegation battle in the Spanish top-flight.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “Deportivo Alaves reinforces the right profile of its attack for the second half of the season with the arrival of Facundo Pellistri, an Uruguayan player who arrives in Vitoria-Gasteiz from Manchester United on loan until the end of this season.
“Pellistri (Montevideo, 12/20/2001) is a winger trained in the lower categories of Peñarol and that this summer made the leap to Europe thanks to the Old Trafford club, which paid 8.5 million euros for him.
“The young Uruguayan talent now lands in Mendizorrotza to prop up the attack by Abelardo’s team.
“From Deportivo Alaves we want to wish Facundo the best of luck in his time as an albiazul.”
