Kobbie Mainoo made another fantastic display in United’s midfield as they claimed a hard-fought victory over Luton.

Former England stars Ian Wright and Gary Lineker have advocated for Kobbie Mainoot to be included in Gareth Southgate’s next squad.

Mainoo has been a standout performer for Manchester United this season, displaying maturity and consistency beyond his years in the midfield. With United’s senior midfielders struggling for form and fitness this season, the 18-year-old has used the opportunity to establish himself as a starter under Erik ten Hag.

During Manchester United’s recent match against Luton Town, Wright praised Mainoo with a post on X (Twitter).

“Kobbie Mainoo has to be in the next England squad,” the Arsenal legend wrote“Such maturity in chaotic conditions that we’ve not seen from an England player in a long time. Impressed every time I watch him.”

Lineker replied to the Tweet, writing: “Agreed. What a fabulous young player.”

With uncertainties surrounding midfield options for England, Mainoo’s emergence offers a compelling case for a possible call-up.

Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice have secured positions ahead of the European Championships, but the same is not true for Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Henderson. Phillips is struggling to make an impact after joining West Ham on a mid-season loan deal, while Henderson hopes to rebuild his career at Ajax following his unsuccessful spell in Saudi Arabia.
