The Red Devils want to bring in a long-term partner for Harry Maguire as they look to reinforce their backline in the summer.

Manchester United have set sights on Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji, according to 90min.

In order to cut costs, according to the report, Man United are willing to include Donny van de Beek in a player-plus-cash deal for Akanji.

Van de Beek has struggled to become a regular presence in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s setup since his €40 million move from Ajax last summer. The Dutch midfielder has managed just 12 starts this season, with a mere two of those coming in the Premier League.

United, meanwhile, the report claims, remain interested in Jadon Sancho. Sancho was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer but it is understood that Dortmund’s refusal to lower their valuation of the winger drove the Red Devils away.

Erling Haaland is also a transfer target for the record 13-time Premier League champions. Anthony Martial has struggled for form this season while Mason Greenwood has been unable to maintain the same standards from his breakthrough season.

However, signing Haaland, who has scored 33 goals in 31 games for Dortmund in 2020/21, won’t be easy by any means as he is linked with almost every top club in Europe.
