The Red Devils are keen to provide more competition for David De Gea as their No.1 keeper.

Manchester United have reportedly contacted Crystal Palace over a possible move for Jack Butland.

Newcastle recalled goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who was supposed to stay at United on loan until the next summer. This leaves 36-year-old Tom Heaton behind David De Gea as United’s starting keeper.

According to the Telegraph, United are pursuing a deal for Butland this January.

The English outlet claims Palace are keen to re-sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and his name has come up in the two clubs’ negotiations for Butland.

The English keeper is under contract at Selhurst Park until June. However, Palace have the option to extend his deal for another year.

A swap deal between the two clubs could see Wan-Bissaka return to his former club after an underwhelming spell at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils signed the right-back for £50m in 2019, but he has failed to secure a regular lineup spot. Erik ten Hag has consistently preferred to use Diogo Dalot at the position, which has intensified talks over Wan-Bissaka’s possible departure.

In addition to Palace, Wolves are reportedly keen to sign the 25-year-old. But United’s interest in signing Butland means Palace might be Wan-Bissaka’s most-likely destination for the second half of the season.
