The Serie A side are not planning to lose their star striker for a cheap transfer fee.
Atalanta reportedly has demanded an £86m transfer fee for Rasmus Hojlund amid interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been searching for a new strike since Erik ten Hag’s arrival. Tottenham’s Harry Kane is mooted as the club’s No.1 target for the position. But Spurs’ firm stance on keeping Kane has forced the club to look for other options.
According to Daily Mail, Hojlund and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson are the younger strikers on Man Utd’s radar. However, Atalanta have reportedly made it clear that they want £86m for the Danmark international.
Since joining La Dea last summer, Hojland has quickly established his reputation as one of the most exciting strikers in the Italian top flight. The 20-year-old registered nine goals and four assists, helping Atalanta finish the Serie A season in the fifth spot.
In March, Hojlund revealed his interest in moving to Old Trafford.
“Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan,” he said after scoring a hattrick in Denmark’s 3-1 victory over Finland.
“So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me.”
Man Utd’s transfer activity has mostly stalled due to the club’s drawn-out sale process. However, with Sheikh Jassim leading the race to purchase United, fans are excited to see a blockbuster transfer window for the English giants.
