An ex-Red Devils striker understands the buzz around the Aston Villa star but has explained why bringing him in wouldn’t make too much sense.

Jack Grealish is a ‘super player’ would he struggle to find a place in the Manchester United team, according to Andy Cole.

Grealish sparked interest from United, among a few other sides, after helping Aston Villa stay afloat in the Premier League last season.

After being put off by Villa’s £70 million valuation in the summer, however, they opted to go for Donny von de Beek from Ajax and was able to get him for almost half that price.

The 25-year-old is once again linked with a move to Old Trafford with another transfer window now open, particularly with Paul Pogba’s future up in the air.

Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to land Grealish regardless of Pogba’s situation but Cole believes he would have a hard time making a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s line-up.

Cole told talkSPORT: “I think Grealish is a super player, I’m not going to sit here and say anything different, but I’m looking at Manchester United’s midfield at the moment, where would you play him?

“You look at Bruno [Fernandes], the performances he’s putting in; that’s the position [Grealish] likes to play in. If you put him off the left, [Marcus] Rashford plays there – so where would you play him again?

“I’m a mere mortal when it comes to things like this. I’m like everybody else from the outside looking in.”
