The Red Devils are scanning the market to find a replacement for Harry Maguire.

Manchester United have reportedly joined the transfer race to sign Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard.

Pavard, who is spending the final year of his Bayern contract, is heavily linked with a move away from the club. But the German giants are reportedly eager to keep him after their failed attempt to sign Kyle Walker.

Manchester City have also continued their efforts to add Pavard to their backline. But they will now face competition from their city rivals.

According to Sky Germany, Pavard has no interest in extending his contract at Bayern Munich. The France international is Erik ten Hag’s ideal replacement for Harry Maguire, with “concrete talks” already taking place between Man Utd and Bayern.

Maguire is close to leaving Old Trafford on a £30m deal ahead of the next campaign. The 30-year-old will join West Ham as United ramp up their efforts to replace him with a new defender.

Pavard has spent most of his spell at Allianz Arena on the right-hand side of Bayern Munich’s defence line. However, he will most likely play at his preferred centre-back position if he joins Man Utd next season.
