The Red Devils have a relatively small spending pot in the current transfer window.
Manchester United are reportedly reluctant to increase their £55m offer for Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
The England international has emerged as United’s number-one transfer target this summer. However, Mount’s apparent desire to leave Stamford Bridge hasn’t forced Chelsea to lower their demands.
The Blues have rejected three offers from Man Utd, reportedly eyeing a £60-65m fee for the midfielder. The number is not far off United’s latest offer, but the Red Devils could still pull out of the transfer race.
According to the Times, Man Utd have decided against raising their £55m offer for Mount.
The Red Devils are reportedly in danger of breaching both UEFA’s fair play rules and the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations. The English outlet claims United are limited to £100-120m for new signings unless they sell players in the current transfer window.
Mount’s transfer saga is reaching its decisive phase as United hope to secure the 24-year-old’s signature in a new round of negotiations.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs will have a face-to-face meeting in the coming days to discuss Mount’s possible transfer. Mount is a year away from running down his Chelsea contract, with no signs of a deal renewal being imminent.
