Porto have reportedly lowered Alex Telles’ asking price, handing Manchester United and other suitors a massive transfer boost.

As per Portuguese outlet A Bola, Porto have named a €20million price tag on Alex Telles’ head. That represents a significant markdown on the €30m they had initially asked for at the beginning of the summer.

The reason behind Porto’s decision to reduce their demands remains uncertain. But, the Primeira Liga outfit are now open to offloading the sought-after left-back.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain both harbor a long-standing interest in the 27-year-old wideman.

The Red Devils were initially priced out of the deal for Telles by Porto’s excessive demands. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has, therefore, switched his attention towards Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.

With the coveted Spaniard up for sale, the Old Trafford side are hopeful of closing the deal soon. The clubs have reportedly made a crucial breakthrough in negotiations recently.

But, the news of Telles’ sudden availability at an affordable price could shed new light on United’s pursuit of Reguilon.

The offensive-minded Brazilian left-back ticks all the boxes for the type of player Solskjaer is hoping to recruit. Last season only, Telles bagged 11 and assisted eight times in 31 outings for Porto.

His tireless runs down the flank and deadly crossing ability make him a notable upgrade to both Luke Shaw and Brendon Williams.

Manchester United have had a quiet transfer window so far. Donny van de Beek is the club’s only signing this summer.

However, Solskjaer has every intention to step up his summer business. Reinforcing a fragile backline is one of his priorities.

In addition to a new left-back, the Norwegian manager is also searching for a central defender to partner Harry Maguire.

Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile is the latest name to appear on Solskjaer’s short-list.
