Manchester United are boosting the process to sign Ernesto Valverde as an interim coach as a replacement for Solskjaer.

Manchester United are interested in signing former Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last week, but just as an interim manager.

As a matter of fact, Mauricio Pochettino is still the number one target for the club even though the former Tottenham boss denied any immediate movement.

Paris Saint-Germain are not willing to release their manager in the middle of the season, as Pochettino’s contract ends in 2023.

Michael Carrick was at the temporary managerial position for Man Utd in a 2-0 win over Villareal on Tuesday night. However, the club wishes to bring in an interim replacement for Solskjaer.

Therefore, a report from Goal indicates that they are looking for Valverde, who left the Catalan club in January 2020 having won two La Liga titles.

Even though Pochettino seems ready to take on the position at Old Trafford right now, his contract with PSG has been the reason for his retraction.

Anyhow, Man Utd executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is involved in talks with Valverde along with director John Murtogh and technical director Darren Fletcher.

It will be interesting to see who takes charge of the deck at the club. Otherwise, Carrick might just continue working with the team until the end of the season.
