One of the most important centre-backs of Manchester United will not be able to play in the Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane has suffered from a hamstring injury and will be out of the Manchester derby this weekend.

During the first half of the Red Devils’ 2-2 draw against Atalanta on Tuesday night, the Frenchman was taken out of the field. Later, after medical examinations by the doctors, it was revealed that he will not be able to face Manchester City this weekend.

Most certainly, this news has an impact on how things will turn out for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Saturday. The Norwegian has fewer options in the back as a replacement, and Varane’s injury has crippled the defence line at the moment.

As per the club sources, the 28-year-old was under scrutiny on Wednesday. And the medical team informed that Varane is expected to miss up to a month of field action.

Therefore, along with the derby, the centre-back will be unavailable for the games against Watford, Villareal, and Chelsea.

Solskjaer is expecting his defenceman to get back in shape by the start of December. The boss told BT Sport of Varane: “He felt his hamstring. So of course you can’t take any risks, unfortunately. Rafa has been such a calming influence when he’s on the pitch. We lost him but that’s football.”
