Man Utd cruised past Villa to continue their EFL Cup campaign.

Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 4-2 in their EFL Cup match on Thursday. The Red Devils avenged their league loss against Unai Emery’s men by eliminating them from the competition.

Man Utd back to winning ways!

United came into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat against Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

However, they showed a different attitude to the EFL Cup match right from the start.

United established control over the possession but couldn’t prevent Villa from scoring the opener through Ollie Watkins in the 48th minute.

Antony Martial then made it 1-1 with an instant equalizer as Man Utd went all-in with their attacks in the second half.

An own goal from Diogo Dalot put Villa ahead once again just after the hour-mark. But then came another quick equalizer, this time from Marcus Rashford.

United kept the pressure on their guests’ backline, finally completing their comeback through Bruno Fernandes.

Following a misplaced pass from Robin Olsen, Alejandro Garnacho provided an assist for Fernandes, who smashed the ball home from inside the box.

Villa pushed hard to escape the defeat in the final ten minutes, but another brilliant assist from Garnacho killed their hopes.

An inch-perfect cross from the youngster found Scott McTominay, who made it 4-2 for the Red Devils in the 91st minute.

United will now prepare to play their last pre-World Cup game in the Premier League against Fulham on Sunday.
