The Red Devils managed to snatch a point after Leeds United’s strong start to the game.
Manchester United drew 2-2 with Leeds United in their Premier League game on Wednesday. Two second-half goals helped United to avoid defeat against the Peacocks.
A promising display from Jadon Sancho!
Leeds stunned Man Utd with an instant opener, finding the back of the net in the first minute.
Wilfried Gnonto rifled a precise shot past David de Gea to make it 1-0 for the guests. The goal convinced United to push forward immediately.
The Red Devils dominated the possession throughout the first period, registering 11 shots on target. However, they failed to convert their chances, only for Leeds to surprise them again at the beginning of the second period.
Only three minutes after the break, Leeds doubled their lead through Raphael Varane’s own goal. Erik ten Hag made two changes to his lineup, bringing in Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri.
Sancho played a significant role in changing the course of the game in United’s favour. His constant runs and timely dribbles provided more space for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho to push into Leeds’ box.
The Red Devils got back into the game when Marcus Rashford headed home Digo Dalot’s brilliant cross from the right-hand side of the box.
United doubled down on their attacks and finally scored the equalizer in the 70th minute. Sancho completed his fantastic performance by smashing a powerful shot into the back of the net from inside the box.
The goal motivated Man Utd to pursue a match-winner, but their legs seemed too tired to complete the comeback. Similar to the other teams in the Premier League top-four, United failed to win this week.
The Red Devils will face Leeds again in their next league game on Sunday.
