The Red Devils failed to impress in their first league game under their new manager.

Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat against Brighton in their first Premier League game of the new season. Erik ten Hag starts the league campaign with a defeat after his side’s underwhelming display at Old Trafford.

New season, same United!

Man Utd tried to find an early breakthrough at their home stadium, creating a few chances early on. However, it was Brighton who opened the scoring through Pascal Gross in the 30th minute.

Only nine minutes later, the German star doubled the Seagulls’ lead, completing his brace before the half-time whistle.

Cristiano Ronaldo replaced Fred in Man Utd’s lineup at the beginning of the second period. His presence provided the Red Devils’ attacking line with more momentum.

Ten Hag’s side made it 2-1 in the 68th minute, thanks to an own goal from Alexis Mac Allister. The Dutchman made four more changes to his lineup, but United’s efforts were not enough to escape the home defeat.

What’s next for Man Utd?

The poor display at Old Trafford undermines Man Utd fans’ hopes for their side’s speedy recovery under Ten Hag.

The Red Devils must now prepare for their next league game against Brentford next Saturday.
