Amad Diallo joins the Scottish Premiership champions until the end of the season.
Having joined Manchester United on a £37.5m deal last January, Amad Diallo is yet to find his feet at Old Trafford. The 19-year-old suffered an injury earlier this season. However, since recovering from the injury, he has made only one senior appearance for the Red Devils.
The teenager has now completed a loan move to Rangers until the end of the season. This will provide Diallo with much-needed game time as United chiefs still see him as part of their future lineup.
“I am delighted to join Rangers until the end of the season,” the Ivorian told the club’s official website.
“It is fantastic for me at this stage of my career to have the opportunity to come to such a big club that is challenging on a number of fronts and will give me some excellent opportunities to test myself in many environments.
“I look forward to training with my teammates for the first-time tomorrow and to meeting the fans for the first time at Ross County on Saturday.”
The six-month loan deal reportedly does not contain an option to make the transfer permanent. Several Championship sides were also keen to sign Diallo this winter, but they were unable to finalize the deal.
Diallo made 46 senior appearances for Atalanta before joining United. Having registered 13 goals and 15 assists, he established himself as one of the most promising youngsters of Serie A. Since joining United, however, the Ivorian winger has made only nine senior appearances, scoring once.
Diallo would take part in Rangers’ quest to defend their league title if he completes a move to Ibrox. They are currently leading the Scottish Premiership standings, four points ahead of arch-rivals Celtic. The Gers are also in Europa League’s last 16, where they will meet Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 round.
