Ronaldo shines on his return to the Premier League as the Red Devils shoot down the Magpies to collect all three points.
Manchester United cruised to a 4-1 victory over Newcastle United in their Premier League meeting on Saturday.
All eyes were on Cristiano Ronaldo as he took to the pitch at Old Trafford for the first time in 12 years – and he made sure to deliver up to the expectations.
Ronaldo bagged a brace on his second debut for Manchester United, tapping home from close range to open the scoring at the bring of half-time before drilling in a left-footed effort from an acute angle near the hour-mark to restore his side’s lead after Javier Manquillo had equalized for Newcastle United.
Bruno Fernandes got on the scoresheet with an absolute beauty of a strike, firing a shot from 25 yards out that flew past an outstretched Freddie Woodman and into the back of the net.
If the atmosphere at Old Trafford wasn’t already electric enough, substitute Jesse Lingard added a fourth with a curling effort in the dying moments of the game to send the crowd into ecstasy.
All in all, it was an outstanding performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who sit atop the Premier League table for now.
