Ex-Manchester United forward Louis Saha has named the one aspect Harry Maguire must improve for the Red Devils.

Louis Saha says Harry Maguire is not solely to blame for the Red Devil’s struggles at the back. However, he adds that the United captain doesn’t inspire much confidence in his teammates.

United travel to face the Blades on Thursday looking to extend a run of four wins from their last five Premier League matches.

The Red Devils have won all five of their away matches in the top flight this term, but have had to come from behind in each of them having been plagued by defensive errors this season.

Maguire has been suspect on many occasions and has even come under intense criticism for his performances.

For a club that had captains like Bryan Robson, Gary Neville and Nemanja Vidic over past decades, perhaps the United captain is not so similar to his predecessors in a certain aspect.

But first, Saha spoke on United’s defensive struggles and claimed Maguire cannot take the full blame for that.

“Harry Maguire is a good defender so I’m not going to blame him for the bad results and performances defensively,” Saha said as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

“It’s a combination of mistakes from the backline and no one has been consistent to be responsible for all the mistakes.”

The United hero then challenged Maguire to inspire more confidence to his teammates.

Saha added: “When you have a pair playing together, making mistakes is totally normal but you expect the other to cover for those mistakes.

“You could have someone who actually reads the game and then does the right thing.”

“Maguire was brought in to bring that confidence and that’s not always what he has done.”
