The legendary manager has questioned the Red Devils’ decision to land the footballing icon.

Arsene Wenger points out that “finding a balance in the team is a big challenge” for Manchester United now that they’ve signed Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United announced last Friday that they’ve reached an agreement to sign Cristiano Ronaldo – a piece of news that served as a source of great surprise and delight at the same time for the club’s fans.

The Portuguese superstar, who was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City but their rivals swooped in late to hijack his move, committed to a two-year contract at Old Trafford.

He is expected to make his second debut for United in their first match after the international break, in the Premier League meeting with Newcastle United next Saturday.

“This is a love story that you want to see,” said Wenger on BILD Live. “[He was re-signed] for more than just sporting reasons, it’s also emotional.

“I think the decision is not 100% rational.

“Finding a balance in the team is a big challenge. But the players with a lot of experience still score a lot.”

“I believe that Sir Alex [Ferguson] played a big role [in helping Man United re-sign Ronaldo].”
