The French midfielder is back in training, but Rangnick says he will remain unavailable for a few more weeks.

Paul Pogba has been out of action since suffering a muscle injury in November. According to the previous updates on his injury, fans expected to see Pogba back in training in mid-February.

However, an Instagram post by Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday revealed the Frenchman has already made his return to United’s training centre.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s upcoming game against Brentford, Ralf Rangnick spoke about Pogba’s situation.

“Paul had his first day of training with the whole group and he showed what an extraordinary player he could be,” Rangnick said (via The Athletic).

“He won’t be available for the two games this week. But, after the international break against Middlesbrough and Burnley he could be.”

Pogba is spending the last months of his current deal at Man United, with no signs of a renewal being imminent.

Asked about the midfielder’s future at the club, Rangnick responded: “I don’t know [about Pogba’s contract]. I can’t answer, I’m not dealing with this. What you could see from the first day in training yesterday is that he’s present. He’s physically present and he’s mentally present.

“What I saw in training yesterday was very promising for the future. I’m very much looking forward to having him available in two weeks’ time after the international break.”

United will face Brentford on Wednesday before meeting West Ham three days later. Pogba will most likely return to the squad by the time United host Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on February 4.
