The Red Devils have remained persistent in their pursuit of the Ajax defender.
Manchester United have reportedly made their first formal offer for Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.
The Argentine defender developed into a crucial player for the Dutch giants during his three seasons under Erik ten Hag. The manager is now pushing to reunite with Martinez at Old Trafford.
However, Arsenal are also in the race to sign the 24-year-old. According to Goal, both sides have submitted bids of around €40m with €5m in add-ons.
Ajax are yet to respond to the two offers, hoping to spark a bidding war between the Premier League giants. A few sources have claimed Man United are already pushing to outbid Arsenal in their efforts to sign the defender.
According to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag will be a key factor in United’s attempt to reach an agreement with Martinez.
The player himself will reportedly ask Ajax to leave as he is keen to continue his career in England. Despite United’s advantage due to Ten Hag’s presence, Arsenal are still in the race for the player.
Man United are also close to completing moves for Tyrell Malacia and Frenkie de Jong ahead of the next season. It remains to be seen whether they would push for other additions to their squad in the coming weeks.
