Teddy Sheringham believes the club must choose the PSG boss as their next permanent boss.
Mauricio Pochettino has been the media’s top candidate to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United’s next manager.
After the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, several outlets claimed the Argentine is the club’s ‘main choice’ to take charge at Old Trafford. However, the Red Devils went on to appoint Ralf Rangnick as interim manager, reportedly planning to move him upstairs from next season.
As the club are slowly running out of time to find a new permanent coach, Teddy Sheringham has picked his favourite candidate for the job.
“Manchester United have always had that vibe of taking the game to the opposition,” the ex-forward told Genting Casino. “I think, if you look along those lines, I would say the perfect fit would be Pochettino, without a doubt. “
He added: “I think when he was at Tottenham he wanted the ball, he wanted to play with the ball and hurt the opposition. The Manchester United crowd would love his philosophy in the way he takes the game to the opposition.
“Obviously, he didn’t win anything at Tottenham. But, if you’ve got bigger and better players. who knows what he could achieve. He would be the man for me, he would be the number one choice. It’s a great experience for him.”
United have failed to maintain consistency with their performances under Rangnick. The recent dressing room conflicts at Old Trafford have also intensified rumours around Pochettino’s potential move. The Argentine is reportedly a popular figure among the United squad while certain players are already campaigning for his appointment.
