The German boss struggles to find his feet at Old Trafford amid reports of dressing-room unrest.
Following United’s 1-0 defeat against Wolves, several sources claimed Ralf Rangnick is facing a crisis in his side’s dressing room.
According to Mirror, Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly, and Dean Henderson demand more game time. However, a group at the team’s divided dressing room are against Rangnick’s tactics. The English source claimed 11 United players want to leave the club due to their current situations.
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly among the players who do not think highly of Rangnick’s ideas. Daily Star reports, Ronaldo is ready to leave United if they decide to keep Rangnick as manager beyond this season.
The 36-year-old is under contract at Man United until 2023. However, he might have to leave the club sooner due to his problems with Rangnick.
The English giants appointed the former RB Leipzig coach in November, planning on moving him upstairs after his managerial spell. The German, however, has left the door open to continue his job as the manager beyond the current season.
Ronaldo reportedly has great influence in the United’s dressing room. However, it is unlikely that the club’s bosses will stop supporting Rangnick during his project of rebuilding the team.
On the other hand, Ronaldo has re-established himself as a key player at Old Trafford. Replacing the team’s top scorer will cost money and might even result in more problems for Rangnick.
The Man United star revealed he is not happy with the team’s progress in a Christmas message.
“I’m not happy with what we are achieving in Man United,” he wrote on social media.
“None of us are happy, I’m sure of that. We know that we have to work harder, play better and deliver way more than we are delivering right now.
“Let’s make this New Year’s Eve a turning point of the season! Let’s embrace 2022 with a higher spirit and a stronger mentality.“
