The Norwegian superstar missed City’s match against Luton Town this weekend.

Pep Guardiola has offered a positive update on Erling Haaland’s fitness after Manchester City’s victory over Luton Town.

In Haaland’s absence, City fell behind against their newly-promoted opponents in the first half. However, a brilliant comeback after the break helped the Citizens return to winning ways in the Premier League after four matches.

Concerns over Haaland’s foot injury intensified when Guardiola dropped him from City’s matchday squad against Luton. However, the Spanish manager is seemingly optimistic about the striker’s rehab process.

“Please don’t ask if his foot is broken,” Haaland told reporters. “It’s stress, just stress.‌ Hopefully he can be ready for (the Club World Cup in) Saudi Arabia. He almost couldn’t walk properly after the game at Villa.

‌”He said on the day before the game that he felt much, much better and he didn’t have pain – that is why the doctor said we have to see week-by-week or day-by-day. We will see, maybe Crystal Palace, I don’t know.”

Following their victory against Luton, City meet Red Star Belgrade in their final group-stage match in the Champions League on Wednesday before returning to the Premier League with a home game against Crystal Palace three days later. Guardiola’s men will play their first game in the Club World Cup on December 19.
