The FA Cup winners beat the Premier League titleholders to start the new season on high note by claiming a piece of silverware.
Leicester City narrowly edged out Manchester City to win the 2021 Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The match appeared to be heading towards penalty shootouts but a late goal by substitute Kelechi Iheanacho tipped the scales on the Foxes’ side.
Iheanacho, who replaced Harvey Barnes at minute 89, won and scored the winning penalty just 11 minutes after coming on as he cooly dispatched a shot past Zack Steffen after being tripped by Nathan Ake inside the 18-yard box.
It turned out to be a disappointing debut for the Man City marquee signing Jack Grealish, who wasn’t able to make much of an impact in the 25 minutes or so afforded to him.
