The Citizens could be without a key player for their highly-anticipated Champions League match against Real Madrid as an injury threatens to derail the team’s hopes of victory.

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake missed Monday’s open training session for the club’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old’s worrisome hamstring injury resurfaced during Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Leeds United. He came off in the 54th minute of the game. It was only his second start since a spell on the sidelines for Man City.

If Ake is unavailable, Pep Guardiola may opt to start Kyle Walker at right-back and swift Manuel Akanji over to the left side of his defense.

The Man City manager will address the public later today in a press conference, with news regarding Ake’s injury severity expected.
