The German giants are expected to look for a new midfielder this January.

Bayern Munich target Kalvin Phillips is reportedly considering leaving Manchester City ahead of the winter transfer window.

Since his move to Man City in July last year, Phillips has struggled to establish himself as a starter under Pep Guardiola. Having made only 26 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, Phillips is reportedly open to leaving Emirates.

According to ESPN, Phillips has given up on pushing for a regular spot in City’s starting lineup. On the other hand, the return of Rodri after the international break and City’s elimination from the Carabao Cup have further decreased the midfielder’s playing chances.

Bayern Munich are Phillips’ main suitors ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window. A report from Bild has claimed that Man City are open to allowing the England international’s exit on a loan deal.

A failed attempt to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha saw Bayern miss out on signing one of their main summer targets. The Bavarians reportedly plan to restart their attempts to sign Palhinha this winter, but a potential loan move for Phillips could provide them with an additional option for the second half of the season.

Last season, Bayern completed a shock winter move to sign Joao Cancelo on loan. Let’s see if they would make a similar approach for Phillips in January.
