The Bavarians could make a loan offer for Kalvin Phillips this winter.
Kalvin Phillips has admitted he might leave Manchester City to secure playing time elsewhere.
Phillips joined the Citizens on a £41m move from Leeds United last year. Since then, the England international has struggled to establish his place in City’s star-studded midfield line, falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.
In recent weeks, reports have emerged of Phillips’ possible move away from Etihad in the January transfer window. Speaking to BBC on Wednesday, the 27-year-old didn’t rule out a January switch.
“I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend. I’m going to have to make a decision on my City future over the next month,” he said.
“Hopefully my chance comes but if it doesn’t then I will have to make other decisions.”
Bayern Munich have emerged as Phillips’ main suitors ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window. A report from Bild has claimed that Man City are open to allowing the England international’s exit on a loan deal.
A failed attempt to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha saw Bayern miss out on signing one of their main summer targets. The Bavarians reportedly plan to restart their attempts to sign the Portuguese midfielder this winter. But a potential loan move for Phillips could provide them with an additional option for the second half of the season.
