The Citizens sold the England international to one of their direct rivals in the Premier League title race.

Sergio Aguero believes Manchester City has made a mistake by selling Raheem Sterling this summer.

The 27-year-old joined Chelsea on a £45m deal earlier this summer. However, he wasn’t the only Man City star to join Premier League rivals this summer.

The Citizens also sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal while adding Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips to their ranks.

Speaking about City’s summer transfers on his Twitch channel, Aguero singled out Sterling’s transfer as a ‘strange’ decision.

“I don’t understand the sale of Sterling,” he said.

“There are times they [City] make strange decisions.”

Haaland was City’s most significant signing this summer, joining the Citizens after a remarkable spell at Borussia Dortmund.

The Norway international made an underwhelming debut when City lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the Community Shield last week.

Speaking about the Norway international, Aguero added: “He was too used to Germany.

“Haaland thought he was alone, then [Virgil] van Dijk arrived and said ‘welcome to the Premier League’.”

Man City will start another title-defending campaign when they face West Ham next Sunday.
