West Ham are not keen to lose another key player this summer.

Manchester City reportedly continue their efforts to sign Lucas Paqueta despite their initial bid getting rejected by West Ham.

The Citizens are in the market to bolster their squad after winning the treble last season. Since the departure of Ilkay Gundogan, the Citizens have been scanning the market for a new midfielder.

West Ham quickly rejected City’s £70m offer for Paqueta earlier this week. But according to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs are still in negotiations over a possible move. The Sky Sports journalist claims City could offer players to West Ham as part of their next offer for Paqueta.

Since joining West Ham from Lyon last year, the Brazilian star has become a key player at the heart of their midfield line. Last season, he made 43 appearances for the London side across all competitions as they won the UEFA Conference League.

Paqueta’s place in West Ham’s squad has become ever more crucial after Declan Rice‘s move to Arsenal. The Hammers, however, are not under pressure to sell the 25-year-old as he is under contract at the London Stadium for four more years.

City will start their treble-defending campaign with a Premier League match against Burnley on Friday.
