Phillips is open to leaving Etihad as soon as this January.

Kalvin Phillips is reportedly seeking assurances regarding playing time before making a move away from Manchester City.

Phillips joined City from Leeds last summer but has struggled for regular minutes on the pitch. Newcastle and Juventus are currently leading the race for the England international.

Phillips, who desires to avoid a situation where he warms the bench again, is looking for clarity on how much playing time will be offered in any potential move. The Telegraph reports that Juventus might have an advantage in this regard, given their current absence of key players like Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli.

While Newcastle has alternatives like Bruno Guimares and Joelinton in midfield, a move to Turin could potentially provide Phillips with more game time. The English star has often played second fiddle to Rodri at City but can also play a more central role in midfield.

Asked about Phillips’ possible move away from Man City, Pep Guardiola said last month: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I feel so sorry for my decision for him. I’ve said that many times. He doesn’t deserve what has happened to him and I’m so sorry. The only thing I can say about him is I am asking for good personalities and characters and he is a perfect example.”
