Hoffenheim are the front-runners to sign Itakura, who played a big role in Schalke’s promotion to the Bundesliga last season.

The Japan international will return to Etihad Stadium after his successful loan deal. However, a host of Bundesliga clubs hope to keep the Japanese defender in Germany.

City are reportedly considering Brighton’s Marc Cucurella as their first choice for the left-back position. However, Raum is also among their transfer targets for this summer.

The 24-year-old spent an incredible campaign at Hoffenheim last season. Mainly playing as a left-back, Raum registered 13 Bundesliga assists as his side finished ninth in the German top flight.

In addition to Man City, Borussia Dortmund are also in the race to sign Raum. According to Sport 1, the Black and Yellows are keen to provide competition for Raphael Guerero, who has a similar profile to the German star.
